Working with Northbanks, Dunthorne Design created various installations to help with new product launches. These are always very involved with extremely tight deadlines and the added complexity of NDA’s.

Flip/fold press launch.

Before the latest handsets are officially announced, events are held in order to give the press some hands on time with the devices. Once the devices are announced the embargo’s are lifted and the press can publish the pieces.

For the Flip/Fold event, we designed large installations that mimicked the folding features of the devices, as well as an eco system area that was inspired by how the different products support each other.

Project scope included printed graphics, tension fabric light boxes, floor graphics, custom acrylic elements and plinths, a giant S-Pen model, stage lighting and being on site for the install.

S22 / S22 ultra

Just like the Flip/Fold event, this was a press event to give some hands on time with the devices before the embargo’s are lifted.

For this event we were given some outline information about the capabilities of the new phones that they wanted to be able to demonstrate at the event.

After a few rounds of concepts and discussions about what they wanted to highlight, it was decided that 3 main spaces would be created to showcase 3 key features.

Space 1 - A campfire with dynamic stage lighting the mimicked the change in light over the course of a day. It enabled us to demonstrate the brightness of the screen in full sunlight, followed by the capabilities of the camera in low light. The campfire used a humidifier to create ’smoke’ that when lit from below looked like a real fire… only totally safe.

Space 2 - A cocktail masterclass, A section of the store was blacked out and some flair bartenders brought in to show off. As they prepared drinks for the guests, they could use the low light video capabilities of the phones to record the action, all lit with ambient light from a huge 100” 8k display.

Space 3 - A lenticular wall. The request for this was to create a way of demonstrating the ecosystem and the seamless transition from laptop to tablet or mobile. We came up with the simple idea of using a large scale lenticular graphic that changes from laptop to mobile device as you move around the space.

Additional items. Dunthorne Design created ‘broken’ place settings to provide a backdrop for photographs of the devices. We also hid creatures in the woodland scene to provide extra interest and something to hunt for when using the zoom feature.

In addition to design, Dunthorne Design helped project manage this installation. From initial client conversations, concept work, through to development and install.

Project scope included printed graphics, tension fabric systems, floor graphics, custom acrylic elements and plinths, stage lighting, burning logs in the garden to create a campfire! Sourcing props, bartending talent, lighting gaffas, creating digital content for the screens, all artworking and graphic design.... and being on site for the install.
